Yesterday, we broke through a new milestone for the season: 10,000 pounds of litter removed.
We share updates like this to show how far we’ve come as an organization, but also to highlight one more thing:
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗡𝗬 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝗱.
Take yesterday’s cleanup, for example. Two of our amazing volunteers showed up — just two. Karen and Jane spent one hour cleaning up, and together they removed 120 pounds of litter.
How much litter do you think was left behind? How much is still sitting in the streets across Rochester? That’s the part of this milestone that we don’t want to lose sight of. 10,000 pounds is a huge accomplishment, but it also shows us just how much work there is left to do.
Tell your friends, family, coworkers, and organizations that litter is no longer the standard in Rochester, NY, and that Walking For Rochester is there to help take back control of the litter in your neighborhood.
