What is the Litter ELimination System (LES)? It is a 6 step loop designed to identify, eliminate and track litter. The system is comprised of 3 core tools: litter removal equipment, the Walking For Rochester mobile app, and the GIS dashboard. The most important takeaway for the public is that all litter activity should be tracked in the Walking For Rochester mobile app so the system can generate the data from litter removed and litter sighted.

This GIS dashboard is a live, map-based intelligence system that visualizes litter activity across Rochester. It combines verified litter removal data, community litter reports, and additional public data layers to identify hotspots and patterns. The dashboard supports strategic placement of cleanups, improves resource allocation, and modernizes how the city tracks and responds to litter.
